Late.  Prof. Dr. S.N. Mehrotra was born on 20th  june 1938 in Allahabad. After Completing his schooling he went on to do his MBBS MD (Paed) from GSVM Medical College. His dedication and thoughtful service for the society specially the children. saw him through to be the Prof & head of Dept. of Pediatrics of GSVM medical College Kanpur. He has always been devoted to serve the poor but, very unfortunately he left for heavenly abode in year 1987, at young age of just 49 years.

His only child Dr. Rohit Mehrotra went on to complete his MBBS from the same GSVM medical college at Kanpur in the year 1993 and then Master in ENT surgery from KGMC Lucknow in the year 1997. He could visualize his father’s vision of serving the poor masses and thus went on to register “Prof. S.N. Mehrotra Memorial ENT Foundation” in the loving memory of his father during the year 2010. However advance the technology be, it has only widened the gap between the haves and have-nots, the disparity between the rich and the poor has widened even further than ever before. Therefore to serve the society by providing quality and comprehensive ENT services. Prof. S. N. Mehrotra Memorial E.N.T. Foundation have been working on Prevention & Protection of Deafness since the year 2010 -2011, but this Society  could not achieve their goal alone without the  Economic &Social support of  the Community. Deafness is one of the most common congenital disabilities in India. It is estimated to be 30 times more common than other congenital defects such as sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, hypothyroidism etc. As reported by WHO there are 360 million deaf people in India. The problem is receiving political attention. The health ministry has launched its project named RBSK to focus on the Prevention and early diagnosis of deafness in few states. In Govt. Body, proper facilities for Treatment of ear infections is not available. it’s the  causing hearing loss, so it is still out of the reach of the people. The Aim of this foundation is to provide free Cochlear Implant surgery treatment to deaf and dumb children in the society to make those normal.  International figure say that 5-6 out of every 1000 is born deaf in India. We feel the number is more. About 45000 Children are born every day in India out of which approximate 250-300 children are born with deafness.

There is no existing NGOs in Kanpur Nagar nor nearby 14 Districts as well who can make any kind of efforts for deaf awareness and prevention of avoidable deafness. Dr. S.N. Mehrotra Memorial ENT Foundation on intervals do organize free ENT Screening Camps, Mobile Deafness Prevention  Clinic  and  Ear Care Workers Skill development Training program   in Blocks level at its own cost, till today this foundation is working on subsidized procedures at their own cost.
